Chantal and Jason’s Eco Friendly and Organic Pink and Black Wedding
Wowzers! What a beautiful wedding! Chantal and Jason are SUCH a cool couple! They wanted it to be as eco friendly, low-impact and organic as possible…just like their daily lifestyle. From non-profit wedding eco-friendly wedding dresses to organic food, the following is a breakdown of a few features of their green wedding:
Attire: Chantal opted for a beautiful second hand wedding dress, from www.thebridesproject.com, and had local designers from the university to alter it, using recycle ribbon and accessories (www.ohdina.com). The bridesmaids were able to wear a black dress and shoes of their choice, so if they already had a black dress (and who doesn’t?) they could wear it. The groomsmen were also allowed to wear their own black suits, and most of them already had one also.
Flowers: Lets just say that asides from dye, pesticides, transportation (almost all Canadian flowers come from Columbia, Ecuador, USA, Netherlands and Costa Rica), cellophane and TONS and TONS of fresh water… AND they just die after a few days. What are you to do? Buy local, in season flowers whenever possible which is what Chantal and Jason did! 🙂
Invitations: Everything was done online, from RSVP to food choices, no paper, no pollution in delivery, no waste.
Reception: Everything (chairs, linens, cutlery, pie display, numbers, table accessories) was provided by the Old Mill Spa and Inn or her wedding planner, so no waste was involved there. Chantal’s Mom made the dessert, sugar pies, and the food was organic and local where possible. All the wine was VQA and the table flower vases were recycled glass milk jugs. The photographer (thats me!) and makeup artist were also vegan, which, as everyone knows, is THE most environmentally friendly lifestyle on in planet!!
