Stunning formal beach wedding in Punta Mita, Mexico
I flew into Puerta Vallarta the day before Meaghan and Blake’s beach wedding, and the skies were dark and the rain poured down. On the way to the resort, I kept trying to get my driver to admit that it would clear up for the wedding the next day – as if he could magically change the weather forecast – but he kept insisting it was going to rain all weekend! The rain only made the wedding better – if thats even possible. Meaghan choose soft pastels for her wedding colours, and loved how romantic and feminine they were… and the grey rainy day really compliment those colours, adding a soft tone on all the events throughout the day.
The Wedding Day
This elegant wedding is not your classical beach wedding! The day started off with a beautiful soft rain that didn’t relent until sunset. The girls spent the morning getting ready at the spa, to the sounds of the birds and a relaxing drizzle. The groom also got some spa treatment … Blake and his best man had a couples facial massage!
The ceremony took place in the stunning lobby of the St Regis. The florist, Gro Designs, had a floral arch for Meaghan and Blake to get married under, with the picturesque St Regis waterfalls and infinity pools in the background. This couple choose to skip the classical outdoor beach reception and ate, drank and danced the night away indoors at one of the many restaurants at the hotel, and had it elegantly decorated with simple white flowers and classic centrepieces. Meaghan’s bouquet was also made by Gro Designs, and had the stylishly luxurious FrouFrou silk ribbon – the ribbons are hand-made and hand- dyed in the South of France. Another favourite detail was Meaghan’s stunning yellow engagement ring… She had dropped some hints to Blake that she loves the yellow diamond!
This bride and groom have such an amazing connection – I had the joy of capturing the smiles on Meaghan’s face and the love in Blake’s eyes. Their love for each other is unapologetic and real… these two honestly really enjoy each others company and can’t stand being apart – even for the day and night before the wedding. Blake’s favourite part of the day was just being with Meaghan again …
From the Groom: My favourite part of the day was getting to walk down the aisle as husband and wife… and holding her hand and kissing her since we hadn’t seen each other all day.
From the Bride: We never get tired of talking and texting each other… we can’t even go a work day without communicating with each other! It’s silly and we just cannot help it- we want to talk when we’re apart!
