Wedding at Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica
I have known Jenny for a few years through a mutual friend and was SO excited when she hired me for her wedding. Jenny has the most beautiful smile and classic good looks; I knew it was going to be fantastic! I flew into Kingston and took a 3 hour taxi across the island… what an awesome adventure… The taxi driver, Gardner, and I went through beautiful Spanish town and across the mountain and, (for reals) we drove through “Fern Gully”! It was just like the cartoon! Gardner, who is also vegan, bought me a snack when we stopped. We ate fresh sugarcane and nesberries while he told me stories of his childhood on the island… it was a perfect start to the wedding weekend!
The term “Jazz Hands” will always have a place in Jenny and Adam’s story. If Adam had chose not to show-off if his “Embellished Jazz-Styled Abilities” in a particular on-line dating profile, this beautiful couple may have never been. The candor between Jenny and Adam is what makes them special as a couple. His ability to make her laugh until it hurts during their wedding speeches and Jenny making Adam feel comfortable and giggly at the photo sessions really affirms their compatibility.
Adam bought the engagement ring at the beginning of last summer and was waiting for the perfect moment to propose. He waited all summer for that moment. After a romantic mini-cation on labor day weekend, Adam realized that there is no better moment than NOW. He proposed while Jenny was doing some clean-up at home in their kitchen. The proposal wasn’t full of sunsets and flower fields but it was romantic and heartfelt and real.
So, in case you couldn’t tell already, Adam and Jenny’s wedding was SO..MUCH..FUN! They had an awesome bridal party and amazing family and friends. We did a first reveal, which was Jenny’s favorite part of the day. From a photographer’s perspective this location was great. When shooting weddings it’s nice to have a variety of images both indoors and out. In the middle of the afternoon it is best to shoot indoors as the bright sunlight can create weird colourcasts from the green trees and grass. Also, with the sun directly overhead, squinting becomes a problem. Resorts as big as the Grand Bahai Principe are ideal for covered outoor shoots and I love the natural light and reflected light off the white walls, it was just perfect to shoot in.
