Laurentian Lodge Wedding Photos – Marcia and Matthew
I really enjoyed my drive out to this Laurentian Lodge wedding. From Sudbury, Ontario, Elliot Lake is just a short 2.5 hour drive, with stunning views and heavily forested roads. Laurentian Lodge is perfect for outdoor weddings, the ceremony location is near the calm water, surrounded by larch, spruce and pine trees. The unique location, the natural light, and the wind blowing gently through the brides dress and veil sets a romantic atmosphere. The wooden benches compliment the wooden lodge, and the outdoor photoshoot was ideal for this rustic themed wedding. It is so nice to have the ceremony and reception in one location, with so many different areas to take photos. During the time between the ceremony and reception, family and friends changed out of their formal wear for a quick swim and played lawn games.
I just love the details in this Laurentian Lodge wedding. The theme falls along the lines of “Elegant Rustic Super Awesome Party”. The bride had classy lace parasols, beer bottle favours and a line dancing, off the walls party!
The parasols came from across the pond, Marcia ordered them from a store in Edinburgh, Scotland and one of the bridesmaids from England brought them over. The table card holders were made by the bride and groom from firewood out of the grooms parents woodshed. Matt used a skill saw and drill to shape the wood into a card holder. Friends and family helped the bride and groom set up the lodge the day before the wedding. The lodge was very accommodating and helpful and made a tailored dinner to suit their preferences. The beer holder favours (To love and to hold and keep your drink cold) were custom printed. The flowers were from Alpine Flowers, and the hairstyles was Attitudes Salon. Sights and Sounds was their DJ and the wedding planners were the bride and groom, and friends and family.
Marcia fell in love with the first dress she tried on. Unfortunately it was quite a few sizes too big and discontinued. Luckily, Marcia had a fantastic seamstress who altered the dress from a size 10 to size 2. It took 7 fittings, but it was worth it to the bride to get her dream dress off the clearance rack! For the bridesmaids dresses, Marcia had made a trip to Toronto with the girls but we they were not successful. After she came back, she narrowed it down to two and had a couple of the girls Skype call Marcia from the store in Toronto so she could see them trying on the dresses and picked out these beautiful purple mid length dresses.
