Harry Potter and Superhero Wedding
(This might be a long post… I was a bridesmaid in this wedding as well, and I’m a little excited about it!)
Melissa and Stephane met at Red Lobster years ago, where they both worked as servers. Melissa, amply nicknamed “Legs”, was a 6 foot tall beauty who quickly caught Stephane’s attention, and after a few years of dating, Stephane popped the question.
Melissa and Stephane put so much thoughtful details into their awesome wedding and really made it unique with their superhero, Star Wars and Harry Potter love. Stephane collects everything Star Wars and Superhero and Melissa is a fellow Harry Potter Nerd (We have dress up parties. It’s a healthy obsession…) This adorable duo actually had a lightsaber fight and cut their wedding cake with them!
I had the idea of creating a Superhero/Villain photobooth to appease both their hobbies…. Melissa and the others bridesmaids helped me hand-create the masks and cityscape. We even threw in a wand and Potter glasses!
Bridesmaid-tographer Problems: In case you’re curious from a photographer perspective, I had everything figured out, except for the ceremony. I figured it would be difficult for me to capture everything, while still taking part as a bridesmaid, so I hired the wonderful Stacey Lalande from www.mirthphotography.ca to cover the ceremony, and she did a great job!
For the formals, my brothers helped me out as my triggers. I set up with the camera, positioned everyone in the party, and as soon as I was in position they snapped away! They did such a marvellous job, and it was their first time assisting me too! I was worried about my own position… would I be too far away? are my flowers the right height? And although there were a lot of photos of me giving evil eyes to the groomsmen who were misbehaving, they weren’t bad at all!
