Photography Full Time – Can’t Wait to Start my New Career!

Photography Full Time – Caroline Ross

For the past few years, I have worked at the Greater Sudbury Police Service as the Creative Director. I started at the station fresh out of Laurentian University’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program, at the Sudbury Region Police Museum as Museum Curator. It was a one year internship, and once it was finished, I got hired on as the Creative Director/Graphic Designer for the station.  I designed the new police cars, designed and managed the website, and started the social media pages for the station, among other things. I met so many fantastic people at the police station, and it is very interesting to see behind the scenes. I have a new respect for officers and law enforcement.

Leaving My Full Time Job

This fall, I decided to retire from graphic design, and focus on photography full time, through the support and encouragement of my boyfriend. It’s difficult to leave a job you like so much, and the fantastic people I work with. Fortunately my photography has been so surprisingly successful that I no longer have time for both photography and graphic design. And who doesn’t want to work for themselves? I look forward to wearing sweatpants to work, and making my own hours. For the past few years I have been working two full time jobs, and I really look forward to slowing down and focusing on wedding photography full time.

St Maarten / St Martin

My boyfriend has a beautiful place in the Caribbean, on the island of St. Maarten, where I will be staying in the winter, and travelling home for weddings in the summer. I will be taking on Canadian weddings in the Caribbean during winter months, and working on my portfolio, through editorial and fashion shoots. My last day of work at the station is mid-October, and I will be leaving the country for 6 months Oct. 30.  Im so excited! Be prepared to be bombarded with beautiful pictures of island life, fashion and way too many beach shots.
