Emma and Brad – Terres Basses Villa Wedding in St Maarten
The Wedding: Emma and Brad choose to do a first look session at “La Belle Creole” an abandoned and overgrown Waldorf Astoria resort. The resort was abandoned in 1995 after they were not able to recover financially from the hurricane. The stunning luxury resort was built to resemble a 16th century French fishing villa and after only a few years of the wilderness reclaiming it, the resort truly looks like an old ruin, or something out of a horror movie. The resort was on the French side of the island, minutes away from the beach and villa where the wedding and reception was to take place. The first look took place in one of my favourite locations in La Belle Creole, in front of one of the overgrown villas. Emma was so excited to see Brad she forgot her beautiful flowers for the photoshoot, so the bridesmaids and myself put together a makeshift one …a bridal photoshoot just isn’t the same without something to hold.
The story: After meeting in physics class during their first year of University Brad and Emma were friends for years before they started dating and it only took 6 months before Emma came to the realization that Brad was “the one”. Brad proposed to her on one knee in the corner of the Boston Public Garden, where this adorable Southern Ontario couple now lives.
The day I spent with Emma and Brad was amazing… you can really see how much this couple is meant for each other. Both hardworking doctors, these two know how to balance work and play! They were up for anything, and were really into the idea of shooting the “first look” at an abandoned resort!
