I always regret it when I don’t have my camera with me on a beautiful evening and always swear ill come back and take pictures. Luckily the Vancouver fog decided to stay around for a few nights, so I actually followed through! I used the super light Sony NEX7 for these photos and hand held most of them so they are a bit soft. The first night of the fog was a few days ago, and i was looking out the window and thought a building was on fire. I soon realized it was just a thick blanket of Vancouver fog rolling in!
Vancouver fog at nighttime is so beautiful, the cool blues and purple of the city are reflected off the fog, throwing a cool cast everywhere. The photo above, of the sailboat, normally you can see the whole city of Vancouver behind it, but the fog is hiding it away. One of the many amazing things about this city is the amount of marinas it has. Marinas bring back St Maarten memories when we lived at the yacht club, and I love the sounds that come with every marina. The soft clinking of something, and the waves breaking against the dock. The water was so still and perfect tonight, it looked like glass – perfect for getting amazing reflections!
Here are some other beautiful images of Vancouver fog on Flickr by talented photographers! My favourite images are those from above, where the buildings are peaking out of the clouds… it reminds me of a bit of Cloud City in Star Wars!
